This is a nice/cozy place to get Venezuelan food, I may be a bit more critical than some other reviewers but that just because I'm Venezuelan (as well as the rest of the people I went with) so, first the place; it's pretty small but I like the decoration the coffee machine they have there is exactly what you'd see in a Bakery in Venezuela, definitely brought back some memories. We got cachapa with beef, perico (which comes with arepa) and empanadas, drinks we got Papelon con limon (they called Piloncillo lemonade or something) and 2 coffee, black and café con leche. The cachapa was good but the beef was by far the best part of that plate. The empanadas were solid I liked them!, beef and cheese were by far the best, chicken pretty ok, but I do have to say that I'd like if flour was a bit less thick. The perico, was below average, I did not like it, the taste was pretty flat and the huge pieces of onion killed it for me. The lemonade (piloncillo) was good, I would definitely ordered again, the "Café con leche" definitely needs to be made stronger because it was pretty "watery". There are some things that may be personal preference, like the empanadas but I feel the coffee one is a fact. Overall I had a good experience and if I ever come back to L.A. I'm more than willing to go back. You should definitely go and give it a try!!.
What a great experience. We came from out of town. Very affordable. We got the wifi password from the kind waitress and the food was delicious and hearty. I ordered the Pabellon Criollo lunch (shredded meat, black beans, white rice, fried plantains and with 2 arepas on the side). The fried plantains were delicious, I would recommend them. I also ordered the con leche (drink), which I've never had before and it was also tasty. The only downfall is the space is small. We were lucky enough to get a table right away, but I wonder if they are able to accommodate larger groups in a timely fashion during busy times.
Delicious and authentic Venezuelan food! The cachapas, eggs perico style, and black beans were very flavorful, and the coffee was excellent. I am Venezuelan and the coffee was my favorite part, it tasted just like my dad always makes his coffee so very nostalgic for me. The iced cafe con leche was also delicious and perfectly balanced. The back patio is a nice atmosphere with lots of plants, and the server was friendly and helpful. I'm happy I found a good Venezuelan restaurant and coffee shop in my neighborhood and will be coming back soon!
This is a very nice place. Venezuelan. The food is very good. My friends have had the arepas. The chicken mixed with mayo and avocado got the most yummy points. I had the cheese chapaca. Its a corn pancake but more like a slightly sweet cornmeal with cheese between the 2 pancakes. Served with black beans, 2 eggs any style and nata (like sour cream). There are also some american breakfast items as well. The coffees are good. A friend tried the Venezuelan lemonade that has a slight tamarind tang to it (but doesnt have any tamarind in it)..very refreshing. The seating inside is limited. There is an outdoor patio in the back that is very nice. Large parties will be comfortable here. They have some fans for warmer days and most of it is covered. Also, there are a couple of chairs and tables outside in the front. Excellent service. They want you to be happy and satisfied.
A very small and cozy restaurant The chocolate chip pancakes were good, a bit too much chocolate but good nonetheless The service was nice, eating there I felt like I was right at home, service was better than iHop. Food took a bit of time, but that’s for the fact that everything was homemade, the pancakes were made from scratch
